Today we had Bill and Michael on the boat for more non-stop Striper action. We arrived at the fishing grounds as the sun came up and the Bass were feeding once again with the same intensity we’ve experienced all week. After quickly jigging 6 nice Bass and 6 monster Bluefish things dropped off for a couple of hours and didn’t pick up again until 11am. We started trolling umbrella rigs to pass the time and caught our legal limit that way but kept fishing regardless. The fish came back to the surface around noon and we left them biting as the birds started to return and the morning’s action seemed to start all over again. There is a great bite out there right now to the South of our inlet and we will be back at it again first thing tomorrow morning. The fish are gorging themselves on sand eels so jigs are all you really need right now; probably the most fun way to catch Bass.
