Randy and I set our goals pretty modestly today, we wanted to catch one big Bass, and that was it. We are getting to the time where we typically switch over to Fluke fishing and we feel like every Bass is a blessing—we only have a few Striper charters left on the schedule before the changeover.
We got up extra early today (3:00 am) and we were on the water in the dark. This turned out to be the ticket as our trip was made and the cooler was full by the time any other boats were on the water. Al and his 2 buddies drove up from the Eastern Shore of Maryland to catch the big Bass that spawn in their backyard. NJ is truly becoming the mecca for Stripers. We spent the 2nd half of the trip playing around with Bluefish but we were very happy with the catch that we put together today. This was truly a case of “the early bird gets the worm.”
